Though Dead Space 2 was my second all-time favorite game, I really enjoyed the game that started it all. Dead Space is your typical survival horror. There is a difficulty in finding equipment and the controls are sort of against the player; coupled with the monsters jumping from places, the game can give some fright. I don't know about anyone else, but I find playing as an engineer simply awesome and a merit all in itself. The main detractor for me is the fact that Isaac is quiet; with Dead Space 2 reinforcing that idea even further.
After one play-through the game loses much of it's original appeal. I could replay Dead Space 2 all year long, but the original game lacks the epic feeling for me.
